LG Dishwasher repair woes - LG Dishwasher, Refrierator, Gas Stove


I have owned an LG dishwasher since 2010. It worked well until last week when the internal water valve gave out and flooded my kitchen and leaked into the basement. Since I did not buy the extended warranty I called a local service technician who came out and determined the problem at their regular labour cost. He also indicated that he would not be able to fix it as LG doesn't sell their internal working replacement parts to repair companies. This means that ONLY LG IS ALLOWED TO SERVICE YOUR MACHINE on their specific terms. In addition, after several phone calls to service representatives, they charge you a flat rate for all repairs. If it turns out to be a 5 dollar part, you still pay an expensive flat rate.

I have spent at least two hours worth of phone calls being misinformed by several service reps located all over the world. The most annoying aspect of which is that they make it very difficult to be put through to the the 'escalation department'. In one instance the service rep kept me talking until that department closed at 5:00. Today, I was finally able to be referred to a supervisor, but was told that 'Garrett' (who apparently doesn't have a last name or phone extension...) MAY return my call and address my problem ONLY if he deems necessary. Other than that you have ABSOLUTELY NO RECOURSE if you are dissatisfied with the service department at LG. I have never been a difficult customer in my life, but I can safely say I will never purchase another LG product until this gets worked out.
